What’s in a Name? ‘Tis neither hand nor
foot…
My name comes from Da Vinci’s painting of the Mona Lisa, known
to many around the world as La Gioconda. Some say she is Da Vinci’s
self portrait, his feminine side–and the woman who supposedly sat
for him doesn’t exist. Others say she did, and her enigmatic smile
is actually just covering bad teeth. There is the mathematical theory
behind the painting, that her proportions are based on the number Phi.
And you can get yet another take on her if you read the current best
seller, The DaVinci Code.
Whatever your take on her, you can’t miss that
enigmatic smile. The one that says she knows something you don’t.
That’s how
I felt when I first began to practice yoga. I couldn’t believe
how great I felt–and it wasn’t fattening or illegal. It was
like I was walking around with this great mystery inside, and it made
me smile.
A name is still just a name, as our buddy William Shakespeare would remind
us. But for me, I find the name suits me, and as long as I stay in the
mystery, I think it will continue to.
