I began practicing in the Hatha Yoga tradition with Murti of Healing Yoga in Austin, Texas in 1996. Murti began his training with Billy Porter (Urban Yoga), Peggy Kelley and Devon Deitrich (Iyengar Training), and now trains with Rodney Yee, who has the biggest influence on his teaching. In 1997, after my first year of practice, I entered a three-year teacher training and apprenticeship with Murti.

During this time I also studied and practiced Pattabhi Jois’s ashtanga yoga, and attended workshops and seminars with Rodney Yee, Angela Farmer, Anna Forrest, John Friend, T.K.V. Desikachar, David Life and Shiva Rea. In 2002, I began studying regularly with Mary Romeu, and I now continue to study and practice with Murti and Mary.

I have so much gratitude and appreciation for all of my teachers. They have influenced my practice, helped me develop qualities inside of me I wasn’t aware of and was sometimes afraid of. They challenge me to examine what I do and why, and to continually uncover the true nature of yoga practice. Every class I teach reflects guidance, inspiration, and perspiration they were willing to invest in me…to each I am eternally grateful.
